THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY IN TOULOUSE GIVES GRANTS TO ATTEND YASE AND ESOF
The YASE - Young African Scientists in Europe meeting will be held 6th July in Toulouse. It will be the first European meeting dedicated to African PhD candidates and early career postdocs working in European laboratories, and to their opportunities to contribute to the scientific, technological, economic and human development of their home countries.
YASE is a satellite event of Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF), the first European interdisciplinary meeting, that will be held in 2018 in Toulouse, from 9th to 13th July. ESOF 2018 has, like the previous editions, a special carreer programme and offers young researchers a unique opportunity to meet international high quality researchers, both inside and outside their research area. Two sessions in this programme will be dedicated to young African scientists.
The Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse (IAST) supports the YASE initiative with a grant proposal for African PhD students working in a European country other than France. Winners of this proposal will be reimbursed of their expenses up to 415 € (travel, accomodation, registration for both YASE and ESOF; receipts needed).
Grant recipients will be wellcomed in Toulouse by three IAST Research Fellows:
They will propose to selected candidates in their own fields of science a special programme during the ESOF week, with group meetings, discussions about your research work and theirs. They will be ready to answer all your questions about PhD, postdoc, research career…
So if you are an African PhD candidate in Europe, you should apply NOW.
Write a one page summary explaining: what you are doing as a PhD, why you are interested to attend YASE, and which IAST research fellow you are interested to meet and why.
Send it with this form, together with a copy of your African passport and a copy of a university registration proof.
NB: the Yase conference will be both in French and in English. ESOF will be only in English. You should apply in English.
